Composer Jerome Kern once said, "Irving Berlin has no place in American music. He is American music." Kern's assessment is proved correct again in Face The Music which could almost be categorized as a "new" musical. The show was reconstructed and adapted for New York's famed City Center Encores! production and it came off to smash notices. The Irving Berlin score was also fortunate to have a book by Moss Hart. It also had an all star Broadway cast.
